How to Get Your Chattanooga Business Recommended by ChatGPT and Google’s AI

More customers are asking ChatGPT and Google’s AI who to call. Nobody controls those answers — but you can make your business much easier to recommend. Here’s how.

How to Get Your Chattanooga Business Recommended by ChatGPT and Google’s AI

Short answer: AI tools like ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews and Gemini recommend local businesses based on what they can find and trust about you online — mostly your website, your reviews and your business listings. You can’t control what they say. You can make sure the information they pull from is clear, consistent and convincing.

And beware anyone promising “#1 in ChatGPT, guaranteed.” Nobody can guarantee that. Here’s what actually helps.

How AI tools decide who to recommend

When someone asks, “Who’s a good roofer in Chattanooga for storm damage?” an AI tool doesn’t have a secret list. It pulls from sources like:

  • Your website: what you do, where you do it, and how clearly you say so
  • Reviews: how many, how recent, and what customers mention in them
  • Business listings: Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp and industry directories
  • Mentions elsewhere: local news, chamber listings, community groups and articles

If those sources are thin or contradict each other, the AI picks someone it’s more sure about.

1. Say exactly what you do — in plain words

AI reads your site a lot like a new customer does. Vague lines like “quality solutions for all your needs” give it nothing to work with. Spell it out:

  • Every service you offer, each with its own page
  • The towns and neighborhoods you serve
  • Who you help (homeowners, businesses, property managers)
  • What makes you different — specific, not slogans

2. Answer the questions customers actually ask

AI tools love clear question-and-answer content. Add an FAQ section to your service pages with real questions you hear on the phone: “How much does it cost?” “How fast can you come out?” “Do you work with insurance?” Short, direct answers are easy for AI to quote — and for people to trust.

3. Earn reviews that mention specifics

Reviews that say “Great job!” help a little. Reviews that say “They replaced our storm-damaged roof in Hixson in two days and handled the insurance claim” help a lot — because they tell AI what you’re good at and where. When you ask for reviews, it’s fine to suggest customers mention the service they got.

Try this: Ask ChatGPT or Google, “Who’s the best [your service] in Chattanooga?” If you’re not named, look at who is — then compare their website and reviews to yours.

4. Keep your business info consistent everywhere

If your website, Google profile and Yelp listing show three different phone numbers, AI tools — like Google itself — get less confident about you. Make your business name, address, phone and hours match everywhere they appear.

5. Add structured data to your site

Structured data (often called schema) is behind-the-scenes code that labels your business info, services and FAQs so machines can read them reliably. Customers never see it, but search engines and AI tools use it. It’s a one-time setup that pays off for years.

6. Get mentioned around Chattanooga

Local sponsorships, chamber of commerce listings, features in local publications and community involvement all create mentions of your business on other sites. Those mentions help AI tools connect your name with your city and your trade.

AI doesn’t pick the business with the best ads. It picks the one it understands best.

The good news: it’s the same work that wins on Google

Everything above also helps you rank on Google Maps and in regular search. You don’t need a separate “AI strategy.” You need a clear website, strong reviews and consistent listings — done well.
